What Is The Canada Dental Benefit?
The Canadian Dental Benefit is designed to assist qualified parents or guardians in covering dental costs for children below 12 years of age. This program provides up to $650 annually, tax-free, for a period of two years. The benefit targets around 500,000 children and is offered to families who do not have private dental insurance and have an adjusted net income below $90,000.

All of the below points must apply for you to be eligible for the Canada Dental Benefit:
- Child born on or after December 2, 2010 (under 12 as of December 1, 2022)
- Dental care received in Canada from October 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023
- Child lacks private dental insurance
- Costs not fully covered by government dental programs
- Parent/caregiver receiving CCB for child (or half if shared custody)
- 2021 taxes filed
- Spouse/partner filed 2021 taxes or no spouse
- Adjusted family net income below $90,000

When can my family apply for the new government dental programs?
Starting on December 1, 2022, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will accept applications and process payments for the benefit. The benefit will apply retroactively to dental expenses paid after October 1, 2022.
